About the Project

This project aims to strengthen child protection systems at the district level in Morigaon by institutionalising robust child safety mechanisms and fostering convergence across government departments, statutory bodies, and community stakeholders.

The initiative focuses on creating safe, inclusive, and responsive environments for children particularly those vulnerable to neglect, abuse, and exclusion. Working through capacity building, systems strengthening, and multi-stakeholder collaboration, the project works closely with:

1. District administrations
2. Child protection units
3. Education systems
4. Local governance bodies (PRIs)
5. Child Welfare Committees (CWCs)
6. Women and Child Development (WCD) departments

Key Responsibilities, Qualifications & Experience

Key Responsibilities

• Child Protection: Strengthen district-level child safety systems and coordinate with government and statutory bodies.
• Partnerships: Build relationships with WCD, CWCs, PRIs, education departments, CSOs and other stakeholders.
• Team Leadership: Supervise Block Leads and field teams, including mentoring and performance monitoring.
• Monitoring & Reporting: Ensure data quality, documentation, timely reporting and project delivery.
• Training: Conduct orientations and capacity-building sessions on child protection.
• Advocacy: Support advocacy, policy dialogues and campaigns on child rights, safety and inclusion.

Qualifications & Experience

• Education: Graduate/Postgraduate in Social Work, Sociology, Development Studies, Child Development, Education or related field.
• Experience: 3–5 years in child protection, education or social development programmes.
• Government Experience: Experience working with government systems and district-level stakeholders.
• Skills: Child protection knowledge, stakeholder coordination, monitoring & evaluation, data management, training, leadership and communication.
• Preferred: Experience in rural/marginalised communities in Assam or Northeast India and familiarity with CWC, WCD, DCPU and government schemes.
• Language: Assamese proficiency is an advantage.
